Joe Myers has been a street preacher for 20 years in and around East Chicago and Gary, Indiana. He grew up in Calumet City, Illinois.

Along the way Joe entered Mr. Illinois, hosted radio talk shows, and developed addictions. He experienced lots of ups and downs. Eventually he started going to 12-step meetings. Getting clean and staying that way was not easy for Joe. Success did not come until his dear friend Beverly encouraged him and assured him he could do it.

There were no real and lasting changes in his life until Joedecided his life must change. Soon, after meaning real business about overcoming his addictions, Joe met JESUS CHRIST and made Him LORD over his life.

Joe has had many great helpers and encouragers over the years, people he met in the 12-step programs, friends he had known already for years and years, and new friends he made on the streets as he began to share his experience with CHRIST. Joe will tell you straight out that the victory he has had over his addictions has come directly from JESUS CHRIST.

Smokey Joe Myers just celebrated 22 years of being clean on March 22,2007. Now he is making himself available to speak at local recovery groups, church groups, youth groups, etc.
